It took them two overtime, a buzzer-beater and a 54-point blowout by Klay Thompson, but the Golden State Warriors kept their winning streak alive with a 143-141 victory over the Atlanta Hawks.

Notably, the winning shot didn’t come from one of the usual suspects, like the aforementioned Thompson or Jordan Poole.

Instead, it was Dub’s big man Kevon Looney who got the job done after some offensive rebounds:

“The first one, I was rushing really fast, and I just realized nobody was freaking out or celebrating,” said Looney after the game. “I knew I had time to come back. Everyone dreams of winning a match, so every time you get the chance it’s a great moment,” the big man added. “Especially in a double overtime game where everyone was exhausted.”

While Thompson stole most of the headlines, and rightly so, Looney also had a game to remember.

Along with the winning and epic celebration, Looney recorded a career-high 14 points, five assists and 20 rebounds, including ten on the offensive glass.

Of course, it’s not realistic for Steve Kerr’s team to expect Kevon Looney to publish those kinds of numbers every night, and neither is Thompson.

But most importantly, the defending NBA champions continue to fight their way to victories while Stephen Curry continues to tend to that shoulder injury.

Stringing together multiple victories will be huge for a team that desperately needed momentum after a disappointing start to the season and multiple injuries.
