54th International Cricket Stadium
The modern international cricket stadium to be built at Ganjri in Rajtalab, Varanasi will be developed on an area of over 30 acres at an estimated cost of Rs 450 crore. This stadium has become the 54th international cricket stadium in the country. So far, international cricket matches have been organized in 53 different stadiums in India. However, most of these stadiums are now closed and some are under renovation.
‘The world is connecting with India through cricket’
Prime Minister Narendra Modi said, ‘Foundation of international cricket stadium was laid in Kashi today. This stadium will be a boon for the youth not only of Varanasi but also of Purvanchal. This stadium will be dedicated to Mahadev. This international stadium in Kashi will benefit the players. This stadium will make many stars in Purvanchal Pradesh. Today, the world is connecting with India through cricket. New countries of the world are coming forward to play cricket. Obviously, the number of cricket matches will also increase in the future. So when the matches increase, so will the need for a new stadium, so this state-of-the-art stadium in Varanasi will also cater to all the needs of the match. After the completion of this stadium, more than 30,000 people will be able to sit here and watch the match. BCCI has also got great support in its construction. 121 crore proposed to be spent on land acquisition
The Uttar Pradesh government led by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has proposed an expenditure of Rs 121 crore for the construction and land acquisition of an international cricket stadium in Varanasi. Apart from this, BCCI will spend Rs 330 crore for the construction of the stadium. This will give the state of Uttar Pradesh its third stadium. Earlier, many internationals have been held at Green Park in Kanpur and Atal Bihari Vajpayee Stadium in Lucknow.
