After a long time, you will be seen on the big screen. How about ‘The Vaccine War’?
Most importantly, writer-director Vivek Agnihotri can’t be praised enough for wanting to make such a film. This movie will make every Indian proud of his country. Balram Bhargava who was the head of the vaccine team. The development of the vaccine was shrouded in secrecy and an obstacle course. It is necessary to bring the hard work done by our scientists to the world. An attempt was made to solve our dilemma at the international level. But our scientists have made a vaccine and it has benefited India and many other countries in the fight against Corona.

So, when Vivek (Agnihotri) came to me with the script, I asked him why me? He replied that there is a sentence in this, India can do it and only you can speak this sentence convincingly. I immediately agreed. But when I said that there are many scientific things in it, he relieved, ‘I am not’. I did the whole film with him. Also, I have not even met Dr Balram Bhargava, whose role I am playing. There was no time either and I didn’t want to meet them and spoil my image of the role.

We showed him the film recently and he was very impressed. He asked me that how did you portray such an impressive character without meeting me? I just pointed at Vivek and said, all credit goes to him. If we had 7-8 months, I would have definitely met them. Not to copy their body language or speech pattern but to know their mental mindset.

What was your experience during the Corona period?
Corona time was very bad. Stops going to each other. But I traveled. I was going out for the work of ‘NAM Foundation’. I also went to Bihar. I went to Bihar to meet Sushant Singh Rajput’s father after his death. I got corona 6-7 times. I went to the hospital once. Then ignored him. Treat your guests well and stay longer. If you ignore him, he leaves immediately. I did the same with Corona.

You have done the film ‘The Vaccine War’. Did you get the vaccine yourself?
yes Both doses were taken. Of course I did not agree to take it. Because I wanted to boost my immune system. But my son was scared and understandably so. Because at that time it was also shown that even the body was not given to the relatives after death. I took the vaccine on my son’s insistence.

We all have experienced the Corona period and isolation. The word ‘quarantine’ became very popular. But it was important to stay in seclusion during the lockdown. (Laughs) So
If you go to see, my permanent ‘quarantine’ is on. I am not living in Mumbai now. I don’t think Mumbai is ours now. So I live on my farm house. My partner has 5 dogs, 12 cows and 2 bulls. It takes one and a half hours to make a round trip to the 12-14 acre farm. My dogs are small but aggressive and fierce. So no one moves around there. Hence my permanent isolation.

How do you choose movies?
I accept a film only if I like the code and am getting good money. A film should say something. Otherwise it should be just entertaining, like I did with ‘Welcome’. An actor should learn something new everyday. Nata has an exam every day. Natta’s next film, who previously gave a film of 400-500 crores, may turn out to be a flop. Now every Friday the ‘stars’ and the ‘stars’ of stars are changing. If he is rich in acting he can become a good actor. Definitions of happiness and unhappiness should change daily. Everyone’s tears are different. So I don’t do scripts I don’t like, it’s that simple.

Also, I owe money to many producers. I did not ask for it. One can call them when they want to do a movie. The work of ‘NAM Foundation’ is increasing. Now ‘NAM Foundation’ is not limited to Maharashtra. We have now reached places like Kashmir, Jaipur, Gauhati etc. Because all Indians belong to us.
