Longtime catering business near Chicago’s Midway Airport catches fire overnight

Emergency services are on the scene after a catering establishment caught fire near Midway International Airport on Thursday night, authorities confirmed.

An alarm fire was reported at the 6300 block of South Central Avenue at 11:35 p.m. Thursday, according to Chicago Fire officials. Crews worked overnight and into early Friday morning, officials said.

Photos and video from the scene show firefighters on ladders using hoses to douse the flames in what appears to be a scorched and blackened building.

Officials said no injuries or displacement were reported.

The catering company at this address, Georgi’s Catering, has been in business for over 50 years, providing meals to dozens of executive services such as large corporations and corporations, airplanes and yachts, Meals on Wheels, and many more, the website says.

NBC 5 reached out to Georgi’s Catering for comment, but didn’t hear back.
