In a private meeting with McCarthy to negotiate the vote for him to become Speaker of the House, Rep. Lauren Boebert (R-CO), Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-FL) and Rep. Scott Perry (R-PA) that they wanted to form their own legal entity within the new Congress to sue, according to Punchbowl News.
While all three lawmakers appear to be voting against McCarthy running for president, the publication noted that the group has also told Republican leaders they don’t mind if Tuesday’s presidential vote goes plural and Jeffries is elected to the senior position. because she will “fight” it.

Apparently McCarthy too early House Freedom Caucus members to present their bid to the full Republican Conference in a closed session Tuesday morning, deeming the bid not viable. If McCarthy made such a request, it could be his way of fighting the Freedom Caucus — which has been more than a decade in the making — by making it happen before the entire conference.
Their offer included specific committee assignments for many people in their caucus, as well as subcommittee chairpersons, and an “amnesty” after all negotiations with McCarthy.
On the way to meeting with the full House Republican Conference, McCarthy told Punchbowl that his goal for the day would be to “unite the team”.
“Explain what we’ve been through,” he continued. “The difficult thing here is that we went to the American public with a promise to America to fight for them, not for a few members here to fight for themselves. It’s about the country and we’ll have to show the difference.
