Florida Rep. Greg Steube released from hospital after falling from ladder
A Florida U.S. congressman who was seriously injured in a tree-trimming accident in Sarasota said Saturday he was released from the hospital and is recovering at home.
Representative Greg Steube said in an evening tweet that he “remains infinitely blessed by the prayers and support of our friends, family and community.”
He added that his office “will provide updates next week on the impact of my recovery on my return to Washington.”
A tweet posted to the congressman’s official profile Thursday said that the day before, Steube was “knocked about 25 feet off a ladder while trimming tree limbs on his property in Sarasota.”
A separate tweet said he spent the night in intensive care after suffering several serious but non-life-threatening injuries. One person witnessed the fall and called 911, according to the account.
Steube also thanked the staff at Sarasota Memorial Hospital on Saturday “for the excellent care” he received.
Steube, a Republican, was first elected to the House of Representatives in 2018 and has just begun his third term. He represents all of Sarasota and Charlotte counties and part of Lee County.
