Pole-sitter Lando Norris faced an inquiry after the sprint shot – but the stewards have decided not to penalize the McLaren man.
He was summoned for failing to follow the race director’s instructions to “exceed the time limit between the car safety lines during qualifying”.
It was decided that a mere reprimand was the appropriate punishment as AlphaTauri’s Yuki Tsunoda posted it.
Speaking to Sky Sports F1 before the stewards’ decision, Norris explained: “I tried to go, but there were two cars ahead of me. It’s just a silly rule.
“Two cars came out of the pits at the same time and crossed the line, so one of them has to back off, or you’re racing, and it’s just silly.
“One person was going to retreat, and I had to retreat, so it’s just … this rule is stupid in my eyes.”
