Mumbai: The Mumbai Sessions Court on Monday granted bail to bookie Anil Jaisinghani, the main accused in the case of extortion from Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis’ wife Amrita Fadnavis. Anil Jaisinghani has been released from the court on a conditional bail of Rs 50,000.
The presence of the accused in every hearing of the case is mandatory and the court has directed Jaisinghani not to intimidate the witnesses. Jaisinghani’s daughter and brother, the co-accused, had already been granted bail by the court. A case was registered in Malabar Hill Police Station on February 20 this year.
Jaisinghani is absconding accused in 15 cases. Jayasinghani came on the radar of the Mumbai police after Amrita Fadnavis registered a case on February 20 against Jayasinghani’s daughter Aniksha for blackmail, intimidation and an offer of Rs. Aniksha was arrested on March 16 and sent to police custody in this case.
She met designer Amrita Fadnavis in November 2021. At this time, she claimed that after the death of her mother, she alone took all the burden of the house. After this first meeting, Aniksha would later visit Amrita Fadnavis at her home or office. She used to come to Sagar Bungalow too. During this period, she gave dresses and jewelery to Amrita Fadnavis to wear in some events
Arrested twice before
Jaisinghani was arrested in 2004 by Amar Jadhav, then Deputy Commissioner of Criminal Investigation Department of Thane Police. Jadhav was also accused at that time. Further, it was Jadhav who arrested him in 2009 even when he was Deputy Commissioner of Criminal Investigation Department of Mumbai Police. Even at that time Jaisinghani strongly accused Jadhav. The then Additional Commissioner of Police KM Prasanna duly investigated the matter. Nothing came out of this inquiry.
