Indian batsman Pujara has been subjected to disciplinary action by his team for violating the rules. The action was taken against Sussex after being penalized for the fourth time this season. Team captain Cheteshwar Pujara has accepted the allegations without giving any argument. Along with Cheteshwar Pujara, the players responsible for the code of conduct breach, Tom Haynes, Jack Carson and Ari Karvelas will not be part of the squad for the upcoming match.

Tom Haines had previously been cautioned for giving ‘send-offs’ after dismissing an opposition batsman, an act he repeated during the Leicestershire match. Jack Carson was found to have obstructed the opposition batsman during the Leicestershire match. The umpire was clearly displeased with Sussex’s overall behavior during the match, and the action has since been taken. Although Pujara did not commit any crime himself, he was suspended for his role as captain during these incidents.

Meanwhile, after 12 points were deducted from Sussex County Cricket Club’s account in the County Championship 2023, the team has now slipped from third to fifth in the points table with 124 points.
