Chelsea reassured of their pulling power as Liverpool and Man City target eyes move | Football | Sport

Chelsea have been reminded of their power draw in the transfer market after left-back Patrick Dorgu admitted that the Blues are his favorite club. Dorgu, who also admits to idolizing Chelsea icon Eden Hazard, is on the radar of the Stamford Bridge hierarchy.

Reports claim the Lecce star is wanted by Europe’s biggest clubs. The 19-year-old is now one of the most highly rated talents in Italy.

Chelsea are among the clubs to sign the defender but could face competition from the likes of Liverpool, Manchester City and Barcelona. Dorgu has already admitted that his dream is to play in the Premier League, and is likely to turn down a move to the Spanish giants.

In positive news for Mauricio Pochettino, Dorgu has openly admitted that he supports Chelsea. Former player Hazard was the Danish youth international’s favorite player growing up.

He told the Danish publication Heavy: “My dream is of course the Premier League, but at the moment I’m in a very good place in my career. If it was somewhere in Italy, it wouldn’t be too bad either.”

When asked about his favorite club, Dorku replied: “Yes, it’s Chelsea.”

According to Dorgu’s agent, Kingsley Ogbodo, a move to Liverpool was previously rejected because the Reds only offered his client a place in their U21 squad. “That’s not what we’re looking for at the moment. We focus on his career, his development and his playing time,” Ogbodo said.

“Obviously Liverpool aren’t the only club following him either. There are many clubs here in England who are keeping an eye on him.

“Manchester City kept an eye on him when he played against England Under-19s at Hobro in Denmark. The Lecce scout told me that Barcelona are also monitoring Patrick, as he is a huge talent.

“But we want him to stay a little longer in Lecce, two more seasons to mature and gain experience. He will only move to a bigger club when we consider him ready.”

Chelsea may add to their squad in the summer transfer window, although head coach Pochettino admitted there were “too many changes” in the summer. It is understood that the club will not be so busy in the transfer market.

Pochettino said earlier in November: “At the moment, I think we are a young team, a young team means too many changes in the summer because of the circumstances and we are suffering – sometimes good and bad results, but performance consistent.”
