SAN FRANCISCO (KGO) — San Francisco 49ers defense lineman Charles Omenihu has been arrested on a domestic violence charge in San Jose, police said Tuesday.

On Jan. 23, officers responded to the 300 block of Santana Row to investigate a domestic violence incident, according to an SJPD statement.

Police say a woman called to report her boyfriend, Omenihu, who pushed her to the ground during an argument. She complained of pain in her arm, police said, but there was no visible injury and she refused medical treatment when examined.

Officers contacted Omenihu on the spot. He made a statement and was cooperative with officers.

He was later arrested on domestic violence charges and given a restraining order by detectives.

Omenihu was jailed at Santa Clara County Main Jail for felony domestic violence, but has since posted bail and is no longer in custody.

The case goes to the Santa Clara County District Attorney’s office for possible charges.

ABC7 News has reached out to the 49ers regarding Omenihu’s arrest. They said: “We are aware of the case involving Charles Omenihu and are in the process of gathering more information. “

The investigation is ongoing.
