Brighton 2 – 1 Liverpool

Brighton knocked Liverpool out of the FA Cup with a brilliant 92nd-minute winner from Kaoru Mitoma as the Seagulls trailed with a deserved 2–1 fourth round victory.

The Reds took the lead as Mo Salah dug into the heart of Brighton’s defense to find Harvey Elliott’s smart point, who twisted the ball under a rushing Jason Steele (30).

The hosts reacted nine minutes later when Tariq Lamptey’s long range effort happened to be led past an Allison who was wrong-footed by Lewis Dunk’s (39) boot.

Jurgen Klopp tried to force things midway through the second half by introducing James Milner, Jordan Henderson and Darwin Nunez, but Brighton held on before striking the deadly blow in the second half.

Outstanding all afternoon, Mitoma had threatened Allison’s goal several times and was rewarded for his persistence in the final embers of the game, driving through a crowd of players before charging into the roof of the net (90+2).
