Chandrakant Patil, Minister of Higher and Technical Education of the state has informed that the issue of making a memorial has been resolved and the work will be started immediately. Mahatma Phule and Savitribai Phule started the first school for girls in the palace in Pune. The question of the national monument of that Bhidewada was stuck in the court process. This question is finally settled.
Mahatma Phule and Savitribai Phule started a school for girls on January 1, 1848 at Bhidewada in Budhwar Peth area. It was demanded by the ‘Girls’ First School Public Memorial Committee’ that it should be a national memorial. In 1998, it was 150 years since the school was established in Bhide Wada. At that time, senior social workers Baba Adhav, Nitin Pawar took out a procession from Phulewara to Bhidewara. From that time, the demand to make this memorial was strong.
Now there are two guntas left in Bhidewada. The dispute between the landlord and the tenant was in court. The state government played an important role in this. A petition was filed in the High Court by the tenant. Meanwhile, the court rejected this petition after almost 10 years and ruled in favor of Pune Municipal Corporation.
