India shooters’ won Gold at Asian Games 2023: On the first day of the Asian Games, India won 5 medals but did not get a single gold medal. Now on the second day, India has got its first medal in the form of gold. This medal was won in 10m air rifle team competition. The trio of Divyansh Singh Panwar, Aishwarya Pratap Singh Tomar and Rudranksh Patil won the gold medal for the country. By three rounds, the Indian trio was ranked third and China was leading. However, in the fourth round, India made a strong comeback and won the first position. Who was ranked number one till the sixth and final round.

The shooting team set a world record

India bagged its first gold medal in the Asian Games along with a world record. Divyansh Singh Panwar, Aishwarya Pratap Singh Tomar and Rudranksh Patil scored 1893.7 marks. Indian trio broke China’s world record. Last month, China scored 1893.3 points in Baku. Now the world record is in the name of Indian shooters. South Korea won the silver medal and China won the bronze medal in this event.

The farmer’s son did a golden performance

Gold medalist Aishwarya Tomar was born on February 3, 2001 in the village of Ratanpur in the Khargone district of the state of Madhya Pradesh. He is the youngest of three siblings. Aishwarya often went hunting with his father Veer Bahadur. He learned about the sport of shooting from his cousin Navdeep Singh Rathore. Aishwarya started shooting training under the guidance of Vaibhav Sharma at the Madhya Pradesh Shooting Academy in Bhopal in 2015. Tomar won the bronze medal in the 50m rifle three positions event at the 2019 Asian Shooting Championships. Today he hoisted the tricolor of India in China with such a historic performance.

Indian athletes won two bronze medals in sailing after the shooters bagged a gold medal in the 10m air rifle event. Shooters Divyansh Singh Panwar, Rudranksh Patil and Aishwarya Tomar won India’s first gold medal.

How many points did someone score?

19-year-old Rudranksh Patil scored the highest points in the Indian trio. He is a World Championship gold medalist and has also qualified for the Paris Olympics. The 19-year-old Rudraksh scored 632.5 points. Tokyo Olympics participant Aishwarya Pratap Singh scored 631.6 points and Divyash Singh Panwar scored 629.6 points. Divyash has also represented India in Tokyo 2020.

Only two in the individual event finals

Apart from winning the team gold medal, India’s only two shooters reached the finals of the individual event. Rudraksha was third, Aishwarya fifth and Divyansh eighth. The top-8 shooters qualify for the finals, but only two shooters per country can advance to the finals. In such a situation, Divyansh had to go out. Tokyo Olympic silver medalist Sheng Lihao of China finished first in qualifying for the individual event. China’s Yang Horan, the world record holder of the event, finished 29th and failed to enter the finals.
