Hong Chou – Indian women’s cricket team defeated Bangladesh by 8 wickets and 70 balls on Sunday and entered the final. With this victory, Indian women’s cricket team’s Asian Games medal is assured. Now the Indian women’s team will be challenged by Sri Lanka in the gold medal match to be held tomorrow (25th). Sri Lanka defeated Pakistan by 6 wickets in the semi-final match.

A modest challenge of 52 runs was set before the Indian team by the Bangladesh team. Indian team crossed the winning target losing 2 batsmen. Smriti Mandhana was dismissed by Marufa Akhter for 7 runs. Shefali Verma scored 17 runs. But she was dismissed on the bowling of Fahima Khatoon. Then Jemima Rodrigues (20 runs not out) and Kanika Ahuja (1 run not out) sealed the victory for the Indian team.

Meanwhile, before that Bangladesh team won the toss and decided to bat first, but their innings was limited to 51 runs in 17.5 overs. Skipper Nigar Sultana scored the highest 12 runs. All other batsmen managed to score single runs. Five batsmen of Bangladesh were dismissed for zero. Pooja Vastrakar, a medium pace bowler from India, gave away 17 runs and sent four batsmen to the tent.

Fight for medals today

Women’s cricket will fight for medals tomorrow. India-Sri Lanka will fight for the gold medal. Also Pakistan-Bangladesh will face each other for the bronze medal.
