The Mahadev book betting app case has come into the limelight across the country as the Enforcement Directorate (ED) has issued summons to several star actors including famous actor Ranbir Kapoor. In this case, which has a turnover of Rs 5,000 crore, it is alleged that artists were paid in cash through the hawala network. Many actors are likely to be investigated in this case.

Saurabh Chandrakar is the owner of Mahadev App. He was running the Mahadev book betting app based in Dubai. Originally a resident of Bhilai in Chhattisgarh, Saurabh Chandrakar was in the business of selling fruit juice there. Before the layoffs during the Corona period, he came in contact with individuals related to betting. He then ventured into the online betting business. He went to Hyderabad and got training in it and from that the betting app was created. The Mahadev Book App case is currently in the limelight in the country. These are suspected to include some politicians, police officers and persons associated with politicians.

Mahadev Online Book Betting App is pioneered by Saurabh Chandrakar and partner Ravi Uppal. ED suspects that the turnover of this entire betting business is around Rs 5000 crore. The app is operated from UAE and its computer system, website system is located in Netherlands. ED suspects that call centers are being run in Nepal, UAE and Sri Lanka to promote the app. This app is promoted through WhatsApp. After responding to it, the information reaches the call center. From there, after providing all the information, the virtual account of the concerned person is opened. Betting is done through the app by paying the amount in it. Four to five thousand panel operators are working behind all these systems across the country. Each operator handles at least 200 customers. The operator gets 30 percent of all these transactions. The remaining amount is forwarded. All weekly transactions are closed on every Monday. It is estimated that around Rs. 200 Crores are generated daily through this app. ED suspects that the promoters of Mahadev app are running about 4 to 5 apps.

ED has summoned star actors like Shraddha Kapoor, Kapil Sharma, Hina Khan and Huma Qureshi along with Ranbir Kapoor in this case. These artists are alleged to have advertised for the app on various social media. Along with these actors, more than 12 other star actors, Khelandu have participated in the social media promotion of the app. It is very likely that the ED will record its reply soon. Sources said that all the actors will be recorded as witnesses for the time being.

This case was confined to the state of Jharkhand. But Chandrakar got married in UAE in February 2023 and Mahadev promoters spent around Rs 200 crore in cash for the wedding ceremony. A private plane was hired to take the family members from Nagpur to UAE. Actors and singers from the Hindi film industry were invited to perform at the wedding. Wedding planners, dancers, decorators were also called from Mumbai. Actor Tiger Shroff, Neha Kakkar, Sunny Leone, Krishna Abhishek, Rahat Fateh Ali Khan, Vishal Dadlani, Bharti Singh, Nusrat Bharucha, Atif Aslam, actor Pulkit, Bhagyashree, Keerti Khabanda, Eli Avram raised eyebrows from all systems as they performed at a wedding in Dubai. ED’s investigation has revealed that all these transactions were done through hawala.

According to the technical evidence, Rs 112 crore was paid to an event management company through hawala in the name of Yogesh Popat’s M/s R-1 Events Pvt Ltd and Rs 42 crore was spent on hotel registration. Most of these star performers have been paid in cash. These artists were contacted through the event management company. Sources said that many artists took 80 percent of the amount in cash and 20 percent through cheque. All his information is in the hands of ED. ED suspects that the artists received the cash through hawala network. ED has tapes of this wedding. ED has recorded the statements of the persons related to the event management company in this matter. In it, ED has got complete information about the dealings of these actors. ED in Kolkata, Bhopal and Mumbai in the month of September in the case related to M/s Mahadev online book betting app ED informed that assets worth around Rs 417 crore have been frozen or confiscated in connection with raids conducted at 39 places here. The ED investigation has revealed that the Hawala racket is being run through a person named Yogesh Popat. Angadia, a parrot, was searched. Unaccounted cash worth Rs 2 crore 37 lakh was seized. A special court in Raipur has issued non-bailable warrants against the absconding suspects. ED has also interrogated the family of a political consultant in Jharkhand in this case. But the case came into the limelight after many actors including actor Ranbir Kapoor were summoned in this case.
