A great alternative to Macbook Air

Pricing starts at Rs 1,04,990 and the model on loan from ASUS for this review costs Rs 1,49,990. So if that’s your budget and you don’t want to upgrade to macOS, the ASUS Zenbook S 13 OLED won’t disappoint.

I’ve dealt with my fair share of Windows laptops before upgrading to a MacBook Air M2 – I was so convinced that whatever amount of money I spent on a Windows machine would let me down. But then the ASUS Zenbook S 13 OLED came along and – excuse my excitement – it drove me nuts. I’ve had the machine for about two weeks to review and here’s what I think of it.

The laptop distinguishes itself from the competition as soon as you unpack it. At 1kg, it’s lighter than my MacBook without sacrificing build quality. ASUS says it has used eco-friendly plasma ceramic aluminum for the chassis and it looks and feels very premium.

As expected, ASUS has nailed the screen here too, with a bright 13.3-inch 2.8K OLED panel and a 16:10 aspect ratio. It also offers various settings in the MyASUS app that allow users to adjust the brightness and customize the screen to their liking and improve battery life. All the content displayed on it – from Google Sheets to Netflix binge sessions – was crisp and clean. The audio quality was also very good, as the speakers are on the hinge and not on the bottom (laptop manufacturers should really, ahem, pay attention, pun totally intended).
