The Formula One Las Vegas Grand Prix is scheduled to take place on Sunday, November 19 in the United States. But before the event, he is facing sky-high ticket prices, concerns about driver safety and other issues.
According to a report by the Daily Mail, the extravaganza is set to generate £1-1.3billion and the world’s biggest celebrities are expected to attend the event. The report shows that almost 105,000 fans are expected to witness the big race on Sunday. Some of the fans have paid $185,000 for a ticket. In particular, critics are slamming the organizers for “destroying the beauty of Vegas and pricing people out”.
The race will last 50 laps with Las Vegas landmarks such as Caesars Palace, Mandalay Bay as the backdrop. Racing driver Max Verstappen described the event as “99 per cent show and one per cent sporting event”.
The report also highlights the importance of the organizers to the success of the race. Notably, this is the first Grand Prix in Las Vegas since the Caesars Palace Grand Prix was held in 1981 and 1982. Organizers have spent almost £196 million to buy a plot of land for the event. £327 million has been spent on constructing a permanent pit building and preparing the 3.85 mile track.

The first practice race was cancelled
Before the main event, the first practice race on Thursday had to be canceled after eight minutes due to a loose drain cover on the track. F1 described the incident as a “water valve cover” failure.
“It is unacceptable. It cost us a fortune. I think it’s unacceptable for F1 today,” said Ferrari team principal Fred Vasseur, as quoted by The Guardian.
“After inspection, the concrete frame around the manhole cover failed. We now need to check all the other dungeon covers, which will take some time. We will be discussing with the local circuit engineering team how long it will take to find a solution and will update any changes to the schedule as a result,” the FIA spokesperson explained.
