Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), in the financial year 2022, neutralizes both direct and indirect carbon emissions from its activities across Europe.

This achievement is an important step towards becoming carbon neutral by 2030, in line with the Paris Agreement’s goal of limiting global warming by approx. 1.5 degrees.

Globally, TCS has increased the use of renewable energy six times in the last six years as part of a commitment to improve energy efficiency, in line with the Science Based Targets Initiative (SBTi ).

The initiative has enabled TCS to reduce its absolute carbon footprint in both direct and indirect emissions from 66% in the financial year 2022, compared to 2016.

Although Europe represents a relatively small part of TCS’s global carbon footprint, TCS Europe continuously analyzes and optimizes its energy consumption and carbon emissions in more than 50 locations in 19 European countries . To compensate for any residual emissions where alternatives were not available, TCS purchased a high-quality certified CO2 offset (CER), with third-party assurance of the carbon neutrality requirement, according to the PAS standard 2060.

Sapthagiri Chapalapalli, chef, TCS Europe comments: “We are very proud to achieve carbon neutrality for direct and indirect emissions in Europe, as part of our global vision to be CO2 neutral by 2030. This shows how teams spread across multiple locations, in different countries, can achieve amazing results when they are. united by a common purpose and a common vision for a better future”.

TCS offers a comprehensive portfolio of more than 200 industry-specific sustainability services and solutions that help companies lower their carbon consumption in every corner of the business and create carbon-neutral practices, restore natural capital and become responsible water stewards.
