Citizens who meet the conditions can apply for the status of vulnerable customer for energy, which gives them the right to reduce electricity, gas or heating bills.

They need to fill in the form at the department for social affairs in their municipality or city, depending on their place of residence. This is possible through a new regulation that came into force on Saturday. Energy Minister Dubravka Đedović pointed out that the number of people who can get a discount has now increased from 68,000 to 190,000, which is almost three times more.

– Citizens who have an outstanding debt from the previous period can also submit a request to obtain the status of a customer in danger of energy, from January – pointed out the minister. – The application deadline is the 25th of each month in order to receive a discount in the following month.

As an example, she claimed that a family of three members paying an average electricity bill of 4,700 dinars, if they obtain the status of a protected energy customer, can get a discount of around 1,500 dinars.

– A family of four people living in 55 to 60 square meters for heating can get a monthly discount of 2,900 dinars – said Minister Đedović. – I think these are really good measures in these conditions of the energy crisis.
