Totally gets GBP10 million NHS contract for 111 contingency services

(Alliance News) – Totally PLC on Monday its urgent care division was awarded a new contract worth GBP10 million per year by NHS England to provide NHS 111 national emergency services.

The Derby, England-based provider of frontline healthcare, corporate fitness and wellness services said the contract will start from March 1 for an initial year with the option which extends for another year.

The contract was specifically awarded to Vocare Ltd, which is part of Totally’s urgent care division.

He said NHS England had commissioned the support to provide additional call management and clinical capacity to “help relieve some of the pressures” on local NHS 111 services.

NHS 111 provides telephone healthcare advice and information on accessing urgent and emergency care.

Total said Vocare is a long-term provider of regional NHS 111 services, with the new contract providing additional flexible capacity, which can be targeted precisely where and when needed.

“Total has significant experience in providing quality, resilient and responsive regional NHS 111 services. Our services have provided essential access to key healthcare services as demand has increased beyond the level anticipated by the commissioners,” said CEO Wendy Lawrence.

“This new contract reaffirms Totally as a key partner in the delivery of NHS 111 services and moves to recognize the new normal in which healthcare providers are operating, which provides essential additional capacity in the system.”

Shares in Totally rose 2.5% to 36.11 pence each in London at midday on Monday.
