Salman Khan’s Tiger 3 is Bollywood’s next big thing, but is it doing well? Yes, the decision to release it on the primary day of Diwali, Lakshmi Pujan, could be debated, and we recently talked about how YRF could apply the same Pathaan formula to it. Read that here if you want a detailed analysis of the same.

So, for those who are not yet aware, the online ticketing app BookMyShow has now started showing how many tickets for any particular movie are being sold per hour. Fans have passed this opportunity to see how the general response to their favorite film is. BMS sells a significant number of tickets online, so it makes sense to keep it as a barometer to gauge general buzz.

However, this is mainly used to judge the buzz in multiplexes as many individual screens will not be getting their tickets online yet. So, let’s compare how many Tiger 3 tickets are being booked along with Shah Rukh Khan’s Jawan performance a day before its release.

As for Tiger 3, it was expected to take one day advance booking at its slower box office (compared to Jawan) due to its choice of release day. But how low is acceptably low? Let’s figure it out. From 11 am in the morning, Tiger 3 started selling 10K tickets per hour, and then it started increasing hourly.

Look:

As the day went by, as this article was being written at 9pm, Tiger 3 was selling around 18K tickets every hour. When you compare it to Shah Rukh Khan’s Jawan, it started selling around 40K tickets/hour from 9 pm a day before its release (September 6).

Look:

Jawan went on to sell around 45K tickets at 10 pm the previous day and even touched 70-80K in the morning of the release.

Here’s to you:

If we do a rough math for Salman Khan’s Tiger 3, it looks like it will sell in the range of 200-220K tickets in the entire day today. And with Jawan, it crossed 500K+ tickets a day before its release. But the two are different films, and the release situations are different. Salman Khan’s Tiger 3 will definitely come out of this, and it would be interesting to see how it fares on its release date i.e. 12th November 2023.
