On the way from Chambal to Agra, we see a group of local goons looting a car for the most basic reason, which is revealed for such a long time ** that you don’t even worry about it. The goons are Sukhi (Abhishek Banerjee), Jugnu (Rajpal Yadav), Balli (Sumit Gulati) & Chhota (Aaditya Gupta), and the reason is just because it is NH44 (probably because the Chambal route to Jhansi ) and you are always getting people. who could beat you to death by destroying your valuables.
After the loot, they are on their way home, and just because a bus driver refuses to give him the way to overtake, they overtake only to kill him and his partner. What else? Kidnap a beautiful girl from the passengers and try to brutally destroy her, without killing her in the end. That’s it, that’s the story.
Just FYI, the girl is Apurva (Tara Sutaria), who is traveling to Agra to surprise her boyfriend Sid (Dairya Karwa), whose name she saved as ‘Sid Poochie’ with two emojis ‘hearts’ & one only ‘kiss blown face’ in her phone. I know it’s unnecessary information, but that’s what the movie is about: information that isn’t necessary to make a good movie.
Apurva Movie Review: Script Analysis
Nikhil Nagesh Bhat, whose much awaited film ‘Kill’, writes a story that you can tell in one breath without making anyone who hears it excited. OK, let me try. “It’s a story about how four thugs kidnap a girl from the bus, molest her, and kill them one by one because they’re fools.” Did you feel excited enough to see how this turns out? If so, stay tuned to read what unfolds to bring this definitive story to a close.
The surprise factor of the story relies heavily on the brutality of the thugs to break the girl they kidnap and none of their tricks are fresh enough to evoke any kind of emotion in you. This only proves why films like Anushka Sharma’s NH10 should be treated with more respect. There is nothing special to talk about Anshuman Mahaley’s cinematography, which clearly keeps revolving around the formal treatment of the script.
Apurva Movie Review: Star Performance
Tara Sutaria finally gets to act as more than a flower pot, but unfortunately, in the wrong movie. This in no way means that she has arrived; it’s just better than her performances in the past, which really doesn’t match her quality.
The first sight of Rajpal Yadav made me go, “Yes! This should be interesting; finally he’s not doing comedy,” and with every scene that went by, I was like, “Why isn’t he doing comedy?” Abhishek Banerjee did this after something so brutal as Hathoda Tyagi much like Robert Downey Jr doing Dolittle after Avengers: Endgame .
The other two dacoits, Aaditya Gupta & Sumit Gulati, are as important as the ‘mystery’ in this sprawling crime-drama script. Dhairya Karwa is in the film only to reach the climax when his girlfriend, played by Tara, kills everyone and says, “Main aa gaya hoon!”
Apurva Movie Review: Direction, Music
Nikhil Nagesh Bhat takes a very conventional approach to writing and directing this. It’s clearly a lack of effort in writing the story because everything screams generic AF. Because things are so predictable all the time, you don’t notice anything good about the methodical chaos on screen.
Vishal Mishra’s songs add to the era. They may be good standalone tracks, but they don’t accomplish anything by being in the movie. The BGM is normal, too.
Apurva: The Last Word Movie Review
All said and done, this is only about ninety minutes long, and I can give you a hundred reasons why you should watch NH10 more than this.
A star and a half!
