Small Cap Funds: A lot of investments are coming in small cap funds. For the last several months, maximum investment from equity category is coming in smallcap category. According to the data released by AMFI for the month of August, small cap funds have left behind large cap funds on the basis of number of folios also. There was a total inflow of Rs 20245 crore in the equity category in August. In this, an inflow of Rs 4265 crore was recorded in smallcap mutual funds.

According to the data available on AMFI website, there are a total of 403 mutual fund schemes in the equity category as of the month of August. The total number of folios of these schemes is 10.47 crore. The total investment came to Rs 20245 crore. Talking about the number of folios, the number of folios of small cap schemes is 1 crore 38 lakh 46 thousand 150. The number of largecap folios is 1 crore 30 lakh 4 thousand 992.
Number of flexi cap funds folios 1.30 crore
The number of folios in Flexi Cap Funds category is 1.30 crore, in Midcap category 1.16 crore, in Sectoral Funds category 1.39 crore, in ELSS category 1.53 crore, in Large & Midcap category 82 lakh, in Multicap category 46.66 lakh, in Value and Focused Fund category There are 52-52 lakh folios.
Money got squeezed again in Small Cap Funds
In August, the highest inflow in the equity category came in sectoral funds of Rs 4805 crore. After this, there was an inflow of Rs 4265 crore in small cap funds, Rs 2512 crore in midcap funds, Rs 2113 crore in large and midcap funds and Rs 2192 crore in flexi cap funds. Once again Rs 349 crore was withdrawn from the large cap funds category.
Investment of about Rs 95000 crore in equity from January to August
Talking about the performance of equity funds so far in 2023, there was an inflow of Rs 48766 crore in the equity category in the March quarter. There was an inflow of Rs 18358 crore in the June quarter. If we talk about two months of September quarter, there was an inflow of Rs 7625 crore in July and Rs 20245 crore in August. In this way the total inflow was Rs 94994 crore.
One third of the equity category came in small cap funds.
If we talk about the inflow of smallcap funds from January to August, there was an inflow of Rs 6932 crore between January-March, Rs 10937 crore between April-June quarter, Rs 4171 crore in July and Rs 4265 crore in August. In this way, a total investment of Rs 26305 crore has come in the first eight months. This constitutes about 28 percent of the equity category.
