Shikhar Dhawan Divorce Reason | Aesha Mukherji Marriage End Update | The court accepted that the wife committed mental cruelty; No decision yet on son’s custody

Judge Harish Kumar admitted that Ayesha mentally harassed Dhawan by keeping him away from his son for a year.

A Delhi family court on Wednesday, October 4, granted divorce to cricketer Shikhar Dhawan from Ayesha Mukherjee. The court accepted that Ayesha subjected Shikhar to mental cruelty.

The court approved Dhawan’s allegations in the divorce petition on the grounds that Ayesha either did not oppose them or failed to defend herself. Dhawan is ten years younger than Ayesha.

Judge Harish Kumar admitted that Ayesha forced Dhawan to suffer mental torture by keeping him away from his son for a year. However, the court did not give a decision on the permanent custody of the son. Dhawan can spend much needed time with his son in India and Australia. You can talk to him on video call.

The court said, the petitioner is a famous international player and a pride for the country. If they seek help from the Indian government, efforts should be made to seek help from the Australian government on custody or visitation rights of the son.

According to Dhawan’s petition, Ayesha had earlier talked about coming to India and living with him. However, she later retracted her statement due to her commitment to her ex-husband.

Shikhar Dhawan and Ayesha Mukherjee were married in the year 2012.

Ayesha has two daughters from her first marriage. She had promised her ex-husband that she would stay in Australia with her daughters. The court also considered this as mental harassment of Dhawan. The allegation against Ayesha Dhawan of sending derogatory messages to the members of the Board of Control for Cricket in India and fellow players was also found to be true.

Although Ayesha had claimed that she had sent such messages to only three people, the court refused to accept it. The court also found Shikhar Dhawan’s allegation to be true that Ayesha had fought a lot when he wanted to stay with his father during Covid.

The allegation against Ayesha was also found to be true that when she came to India with her son, she forced Dhawan to send monthly expenses to his two daughters. Even his school fees had to be paid by Dhawan himself. In such a situation, for a long time, Dhawan sent him about Rs 10 lakh every month.

The court also found that Ayesha acquired 99% ownership rights in Dhawan’s three properties in Australia through forceful pressure. She also became joint owner of two other properties.

‘So now think about it, I have to go through divorce for the second time. This is even scarier. Having been divorced once before, I felt that there were more at stake in a second marriage than the first. I will have to prove myself more than last time.

‘So when my second marriage also ended, things were terrible. Everything I had felt during my first divorce came back like a flood. The fear, failure and disappointment were 100 times greater than the first time. The question running through my mind was what did it mean to me? How was this defining me and my relationship with marriage?

‘Now that I’ve gone through the necessary processing and emotions, I gave myself time. I saw that I was fine, in fact I was in much better condition. I also noticed that my fear was completely gone. Once I fully understood this, I began to redefine the word divorce and experience it the way I wanted to.
