Ryan Reynolds said the tie between Wrexham AFC and Sheffield United was “one of the most exciting things I’ve seen”.
The Deadpool star and father-of-three bought the National League football club in November 2020 and called the team’s draw with the Championship side in their final FA Cup game as “impossible”.
Reynolds, 46, said: “When @RMcElhenney and I went into this, it all felt impossible. But impossible is @Wrexham_AFC’s favorite colour. That was one of the most exciting things I have ever seen. Thank you to all the Wrexham fans who came out with all their heart on this pitch tonight.”
The draw follows Wrexham AFC’s three wins in the last FA Cup tournament against Oldham, Farnborough and Coventry City.

They will now face Sheffield United in a rematch on Tuesday 7th February to decide which team goes through to the fifth round of the FA Cup 20/23.

When Reynolds bought the Welsh football team together with fellow actor and friend Rob McElhenney – star of the American sitcom It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia – the club was eighth in the National League, the fifth division of British football.
Sheffield United play in the second division and have recently been relegated from the Premier League.
Wrexham are now second in the National Championship.
Reynolds and McElhenney’s takeover of the club and its subsequent fortunes were chronicled in last year’s Disney+ documentary Welcome to Wrexham.

Last year they donated £20,000 to a Wrexham girl’s cancer treatment.
They also donated £1,600 to a local U12 futsal team.
In December 2022, King Charles and Queen Consort Camilla visited Wrexham AFC to hear about the team’s progress.
Reynolds’ wife Blake Lively recently announced that she is expecting the couple’s fourth child.

The couple are already parents to three daughters, eight-year-old James, six-year-old Inez and three-year-old Betty.
