Khalistan supporter Amritpal Singh and his nine comrades have started a hunger strike in Dibrugarh jail in Assam. Amritpal’s wife Kirandeep Kaur has also sat on a strike and hunger strike outside the jail in support of her husband. Amritpal and his wife Kiran Deep Kaur say that the government is not allowing them to meet the lawyer. Meanwhile, Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) President Harjinder Singh Dhami has instructed the SGPC’s legal cell to intervene in the matter and get permission for the lawyers to meet. On the other hand, Jathedar of Sri Akal Takht Sahib Giani Raghbir Singh has also condemned the jailed youth for not allowing them to meet lawyers.
Amritpal was arrested from Punjab under the National Security Act (NSA). After this he was sent to Assam jail. Wife Kirandeep Kaur says that Amritpal and his associates are not being allowed to meet their lawyer Rajdev Singh. Whereas he has every right to meet a lawyer. Amritpal and his comrades have been on strike inside the jail for five days, no solution to this matter has been found for the last five days.
