Vigilance team arrested accountant Avinash Chandra Ojha red-handed while taking a bribe of Rs 15,000 in Sadar tehsil on Monday afternoon. After the arrest, some tehsil employees also tried to protest. However, the team left immediately with him. Vigilance has registered an FIR in its police station against Lekhpal under various sections including corruption.

According to Aman Tripathi, resident of Khargapur Kaushalpuri Colony, Gomtinagar, he had applied for getting the status certificate made. Despite completion of the paperwork, the certificate was not being made. Accountant Avinash demanded a bribe of Rs 15 thousand. When he refused to pay the bribe, he stuck the certificate. Aman complained about this to Vigilance. Vigilance laid a trap. Under this, Aman reached the tehsil on Monday and agreed to pay the amount to the accountant. As soon as he gave the money, the Vigilance team caught the accountant.
