Along with this, the candidate supported by the council also won the election for the post of Sports Secretary.

How many posts did ABVP win in the last 10 DUSU elections?

On the other hand NSUI says that we have our unit in every college. Colleges on the southern campus have paid more attention to publicity. If the voting from there is in support then victory will be assured. ABVP national media coordinator Ashutosh Singh said, in the last 10 DUSU elections, ABVP has won 29 out of 40 posts. Apart from the students associated with renowned student organizations, Himanshu Thakur from Hansraj College, Shimpi from Lakshmibai College, Shraddha Gupta Department of Library and Information Science, Soumya Kumar Satyam from A&U Tibia College are in the fray for the post of President. Yash Khatri of Shivaji College is in the fray for Vice President, Kavita of Aditi Mahavidyalaya and Nishi Himanshu Raj of Law Faculty are in the fray for Secretary. Amrendra Kumar Yadav of Buddhist Studies is trying his luck for Joint Secretary.

Chairman- Arif Siddiqui. Originally from Kannauj, Uttar Pradesh. Currently a postgraduate student in Buddhist Studies.

Vice President- Ankit. He is a resident of Juhana, Haryana. First year LLB student in the Faculty of Law.

Secretary- Aditi Tyagi. Graduated from Hindu College. Currently a first year postgraduate student in the Department of Philosophy.

Joint Secretary- Nishtha Singh. She is a resident of Bhagalpur, Bihar. She is a first year postgraduate student in Buddhist Studies.

AISA candidates

Chairman- Ayesha Ahmed Khan. Ayesha Ahmed Khan is originally from Patna. Miranda is a student of House College.

Vice President- Anushka Chaudhary. She is originally from Bulandshahr, Uttar Pradesh. She is a student of the Faculty of Law, Delhi University.

Secretary- Aditya Pratap Singh. Originally a resident of Uttar Pradesh. He is a postgraduate student in Political Science at Deshbandhu College.

Joint Secretary- Anjali Kumari. She is a resident of Gaya, Bihar. A first year student in Miranda House.

NSUI candidates

President- Hitesh Gulia (23). Hitesh is a resident of Jhajjar district of Haryana. He is a third year LLB student in the Faculty of Law.

Vice President- Abhi Dahiya (24). Abhi is originally from Sonipat, Haryana. He is a postgraduate student in Buddhist Studies.

Secretary- Yakshna Sharma (24). Yakshna DU graduated from Hindu College, DU. Presently she is a third year LLB student from the Faculty of Law.

Co-Secretary- Shubham Kumar Chaudhary (24). Shubham graduated from CVS College, Delhi University. First year student of Master of Buddhist Studies.

President- Tushar Dedha (26). Tushar is a resident of East Delhi. First year postgraduate student in the Department of Buddhist Studies.

Vice President-Sushant Dhankar (22). Sushant is originally from Jhajjar (Haryana). Has won gold medal in pistol shooting at Haryana state level. First year postgraduate student in the Department of Buddhist Studies.

Secretary- Aparajita (22). Aparajita is originally a resident of Jaunpur, Uttar Pradesh. She is doing post graduation in Buddhist Studies.

Joint Secretary- Sachin Baisla (27). Sachin is originally a resident of Baghpat (Uttar Pradesh). He is a postgraduate student in Buddhist Studies.

Issues of girl students dominated the voting

The issue of safety of girl students dominated the Delhi University Students Union (DUSU) elections. Most of the girl students talked about voting to increase security. After the entry of outside youth in the college campus during the festival held recently, questions are being raised regarding the safety of girl students.

Its effect was seen in DUSU elections. The girl students expressed concern over security and asked to vote for such representatives who can fight for the safety of the girl students. Harshita Bhatt, a BA Honors Geography student at Miranda House, said, the main student organizations are ABVP and NSUI.

ABVP won three seats in 2019

ABVP, NSUI, CPI(M)-backed Students Federation of India (SFI) and CPI(ML)-Liberation-affiliated All India Students’ Association (AISA) had fielded candidates for all four central posts. In the 2019 elections, ABVP won three out of four seats.

How much voting took place in which college?

Voting in North Campus was between 35 to 40 percent. Voting in North Campus colleges was between 35 to 40 percent. 42.3 percent votes were cast in Kirori Mal College. Here only 2409 out of 5600 students voted. There was 33 percent voting in Ramjas. Here only two thousand out of 5800 students voted. In Hansraj, 2150 out of 5000 students voted, 45 percent voted here. 2300 out of 4300 students voted in Hindu College and 965 out of 3500 students voted in Rajdhani College.

Voting had started at 8:30 am, but only a small number of students had turned up till 10 am. The number of students started increasing from 11 am. The pace of voting increased significantly at 12 noon. Voting took place at the same pace till 1 pm.

There were more than one lakh voters

Chief Election Officer Prof. Chandra Shekhar said, observers were put on duty in all the colleges from seven in the morning for voting. Students voted in all 52 colleges, law faculty, Buddhist department. A team of colleges was also taking care of the election arrangements and also monitoring it. There were more than one lakh voters for the election.

Know what was the voting percentage when?

Chief Electoral Officer Chandrashekhar said that 42 percent voting took place in the university. About one lakh students were eligible to vote in the elections. While the voting percentage was higher than 2019, when 39.90 per cent turnout was recorded, it failed to surpass 2018’s almost 11-year-high figure. The turnout in 2018 and 2017 was 44.46 percent and 42.8 percent respectively.

NSUI manifesto

Former DUSU President Amrita Dhawan said that NSUI has always been raising the voice of women. Be it the matter of making the President of DUSU or the National President of the organization. Women have been promoted by NSUI. Girl students become victims of molestation.

Now they are being made victims of cyber bullying through internet media. In such cases, NSUI will provide legal help to all the girl students. Help will also be provided regarding other problems arising in the university.

Counting of votes begins, security strengthened in Noth campus

The counting of votes for Delhi University Students Union elections has started. Results are likely to be out by 1 pm. There is a contest between ABVP and NSUI in the elections. Meanwhile, in view of the counting of votes, security has been tightened in the North Campus area of ​​Delhi University.

8 candidates in the fray for the post of president

Of the 24 candidates contesting the DUSU elections, maximum eight candidates have contested for the post of President. Six candidates are in the fray for the post of Secretary and five candidates each for the post of Vice President and Joint Secretary.

Voting took place till 7:30 pm

DU Vice Chancellor Yogesh Singh visited the centers during voting. Voting in the first phase continued from 8:30 am to 1 pm. During this time, votes were cast in colleges and departments in the morning. The second phase of voting took place from 3 pm to 7:30 pm.

Student union elections held after three years

Voting was conducted in two phases. Up to 42 percent voting took place in the first phase. The voting percentage of the second phase has not been released. Due to Corona, DUSU elections have been held after three years.

More than 500 policemen deployed

North District DCP Sagar Singh Kalsi said that counting of votes will take place on Saturday. For this, more than 500 police and paramilitary forces will be deployed. Any kind of commotion etc. will not be allowed. They will be allowed to enter major colleges only after checking at the entrance. Outsiders will not be allowed to enter.

ABVP manifesto

Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) student organization has promised to fulfill 20 points in its manifesto, which include free metro pass to university students, special bus service, increase in SC ST OBC scholarship, provision for girl students in every college. Many important issues have been raised like setting up of free Wi-Fi in hostels, colleges and hostel premises, East and West campuses.

This time too the contest was mainly seen between ABVP and NSUI. Left organizations AISA and SFI are also in the fray. Counting of votes will begin at the Conference Center from 8:30 am on Saturday.
