Jeremy Renner was trying to keep his adult grandson from getting hit when he was killed by his 14,330-pound snow plow on New Year’s Day.

According to the Washoe County Sheriff’s Office incident report filed Friday and released Wednesday by CNN, the Mayor of Kingston and The Avengers The 52-year-old actor used the snow groomer to get his grandson’s truck out of the snow on Main Street at his property in Reno, Nev. The plow then slid sideways down a hill, causing Renner to eject. However, the emergency brake was not applied and the plough, moving on a caterpillar, went into the lane of his nephew. Renner tried to stop her and was pulled under and crushed.

“The snow groomer skidded, causing Renner to exit the vehicle without applying the emergency brake,” the sheriff’s report concluded. “Although the snow groomer had some mechanical problems, based on our mechanical inspection it is believed that the parking brake prevents the snow groomer from moving forward. When Renner tried to stop or deflect the snow groomer to avoid injury [his nephew]was pulled from the track under the vehicle and overturned.”

The report also revealed that the brake indicator light in the snow groomer’s cabin was not working and noted that “mechanical problems may have been a factor in this accident”.

It was also said that impairment was not considered a factor in the accident.

According to the report, Renner – who broke “more than 30 bones” in the accident – was questioned at the hospital on January 5. started rolling down the hill.” He jumped, but noticed that she was “heading straight for the road [his nephew]” he tried to ‘stop or hinder the snow groomer’.

In order to enter the cab, Renner had to climb onto the moving track and was “immediately pulled under the left track”. He was “completely crushed” under the vehicle and had “extreme [difficulty] Breathe.”

Yahoo Entertainment has reached out to Renner’s spokesperson for comment on the report.

On New Year’s Day it was reported that Renner was airlifted to the hospital after the accident. The snow plow was confiscated by the authorities to rule out mechanical damage.

Renner underwent two operations in the intensive care unit. He was released after more than two weeks and continues to recover at home. Over the weekend, he shared a picture of a physical therapy session.

“All morning workout resolutions have changed this new year special,” he wrote. “I came out of the tragedy for my whole family and quickly focused on the union of actionable love. I want to thank EVERYONE for their messages and their thoughts to my family and I… Much love and appreciation to you all. Those 30+ broken bones will heal, grow stronger as love and bonds with family and friends deepen. Love and blessings to you all.”
