Diwali, 2023:Sridevi still one of Bollywood’s most beloved actresses, forever etched in everyone’s hearts. Her eldest daughter, Janhvi Kapoor, often reminisces about her and speaks fondly of her.
As the festival of lights approaches the actress fondly remembers her mother and said that Sridevi always enjoyed decorating her house during Diwali and Ganesh Chaturthi.
Janhvi Kapoor in a recent interview with HT he spoke about the late actor and said, “I have grown up in a family where traditions were a big part of our family and my childhood. My mom (the late famous actress Sridevi) always enjoyed decorating the house on this day. We would have Diwali pooja, and on Ganesh Chaturthi we would always be together as a family, Karva Chauth is also a big one. I think our Indian heritage, traditions and culture have always been a big part of our lives.”
Janhvi also recalled that Sridevi is a very religious person. The Dhadak actor said, “She was always a very religious person. I think my investment in all these traditions makes me feel closer to mom,” she smiled.
Also in the same interview, Janhvi recalled her favorite memory of a Diwali dinner at her father’s place. The ‘Goodluck Jerry’ actor said, “Diwali dinner was always at my father’s house. Food is so amazing, the whole house is decorated with lights. The whole family gets dressed together. We all do that and have a good time. A typical Diwali celebration looks just like this in my family. There is a pooja that happens during the day in our office or home. For that reason, I always saw mom wearing traditional Pattu saree, we would wear pattu pavadai for the pooja. Then for dinner we would have fun at Dad’s house, eating pulao, rajma, the Kapoor khandaan delicacies. I may have missed the dinner sometimes, but I never missed the pooja.”
On the work front, the acclaimed star will be seen in the upcoming sports comedy ‘Mr and Mrs Mahi’, marking her second collaboration with National Award winner Rajkummar Rao. Additionally, Janhvi Kapoor is gearing up for her Telugu debut in ‘Devara’, alongside Jr. NTR.
