Jagran Bureau, New Delhi. There is tension in the countries of the Gulf region due to the Israel-Palestine dispute. It has not affected the economic conditions of the outside world, but there are indications that the first impact of this tension may be on the India-Middle East-Europe Economic Corridor (IMEC).
Last month, IMEC was announced by the top leaders of the major countries associated with the corridor during the G-20 Summit in New Delhi on September 09, 2023 and it was also told that the first meeting of the member countries regarding this will be held within 60 days. . Discussions were also going on among the member countries regarding the meeting and the option of holding the first meeting of the officials of the concerned countries in New Delhi was also discussed.

IMEC was also being said to improve relations between Gulf countries with whom Israel has had bad relations. An Israeli port is planned to be connected with this corridor. This is the reason why its announcement was also welcomed by Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu.
IMEC’s future now completely uncertain
GTRI says that the future of IMEC is now completely uncertain. However, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman had said a day earlier that the Israel-Palestine war has had no impact on IMEC’s plans. The Finance Minister said this in an international seminar organized in Marrakesh (Morocco).
However, many international experts have also said that the reason behind Hamas attack was to sabotage IMEC’s plan. They say that many powers do not like that peace should be established between Israel and Saudi Arabia.
IMEEC meeting was held under the chairmanship of PM Modi-Biden
