Kangana Ranaut never misses an opportunity to launch her attack on Bollywood celebrities every now and then. Be it asking her puppet Alia Bhatt Karan Johar to call the filmmaker a carrier of nepotism on her chat show, she has often grabbed headlines for her outrageous remarks against her colleagues. In today’s throwback story, we tell you about the time she called out Deepika Padukone for her depression that Sushant Singh Rajput pulled.
The story goes back to 2020, when she came for an interview with a news channel. In the same interview, she was seen blasting the Piku actress for allegedly talking about depression eight years after her breakup with Ranbir Kapoor. She was later seen asking DP not to push the illness on her or Sushant, who are saying that they are not depressed.
A few months after the death of Sushant Singh Rajput, Kangana Ranaut told a news channel, “Yes, the theory of depression but, Deepika Padukone ji hai woh achanak se 2015-16 mein kehti hain ki’ 2008 mein mujhe dump kiya gaya tha, toh mujhe uska depression aaj ho gaya hai. Aath saalon baad. Uske baad, beech mein unke matters bhi chal rahe hain, woh ache se kaam bhi kar rahin hain, woh bahar jaake sajti sawartin bhi hain, sab kuch hota hai, shaadi bhi ho rahi hai, but depression bhi saath saath mein hai. Aisa kaise depression hota hai joki aath saal baad hota hai?”
Later, Kangana Ranaut’s team also tweeted, “If @deepikapadukone says she was suddenly depressed because of a breakup that happened 10 years ago, we believe her so give me and Sushant the same respect if I say no mental illness me or if Sushant’s father says he was not mentally ill we also believe the. Why do you make us sick?”

Well, this was not the first time that Kangana Ranaut made a joke about mental illness. She once responded to a video of Aamir Khan’s daughter Ira Khan’s depression and said that it is ‘tough for children from a broken family.’
She had tweeted, “At 16 I was facing physical assault, I was alone taking care of my sister who was burnt with acid and also facing media wrath, many causes of depression are possible but it is difficult to general for broken families with children, is the traditional family system very important.” A few days later, however, Ira released a video of her talking about depression while indirectly hitting back at the Queen actress’ ‘broken family children’.
