Dainik Bhaskar contacted the weather departments of the 10 cities where the World Cup matches will be held and got the details about what the weather conditions will be like there during the tournament.

The effect of returning monsoon will end by October 15
The Meteorological Department said, ‘Monsoon will leave India by October 15 and there will be no major threat of rain on most of the matches. There will be a possibility of more than normal rainfall in India’s North East and South Indian areas located near the sea during this period. At present, there is an ‘El Nino’ ​​storm situation over the Pacific Ocean. Experts believe that it will not have much impact on the weather and even if there is rain, it will be less.

1. Weather will be clear in Ahmedabad
There will be 5 matches of the World Cup in Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. These include the opening match between England and New Zealand, the great match between India and Pakistan and the final of the tournament.

  • Ahmedabad Meteorological Department scientist Manorama Mohanty said, ‘There is no possibility of rain on the day of the first match on October 5. However, there will be light clouds in some parts of the city on this day. The temperature will be between 24 to 35 degrees Celsius. Thunderstorm activity was seen on October 2 and 3, but from October 4 onwards the chances of rain will reduce significantly.
  • There will be a match between India and Pakistan here on 14th October. There will be no possibility of rain on this day also. It will be cloudy and the temperature may range between 22 to 34 degrees Celsius.
  • There will be an important match between England and Australia on 4th November. There is no possibility of rain in this also. The temperature will be between 20 to 36 degrees Celsius. However, winds can blow at a speed of about 11 kilometers per hour around the stadium.
  • The match between South Africa and Afghanistan will be held in Ahmedabad on 10 November and the final match on 19 November. There is no possibility of rain in both the matches.

2. There will be shadow of rain on Chennai matches
5 matches of the World Cup will be played at MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. All will happen in October only. Team India will play its opening match against Australia on this ground.

  • Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) of Chennai said that light rain may be seen during the India-Australia match. The temperature will be between 26 to 34 degrees Celsius. Winds can also blow at a speed of 10 kilometers per hour in the city.
  • The match between New Zealand and Bangladesh will be held in Chennai on 13 October. This day will be cloudy, but the chances of rain are less. There is a possibility of cloudy weather during the New Zealand-Afghanistan match on October 18.
  • There will be a match between Pakistan and Afghanistan on 23 October. During this time it may rain after noon. There will be a match between Pakistan and South Africa on 27 October. This day will be cloudy, but there will be no possibility of rain.

So far only one ODI has been canceled in Chennai, this match was played 20 years ago.

3. Pakistan’s 2 matches in Hyderabad, there will be no rain here
There will be 3 World Cup matches at Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium, out of which 2 will be for Pakistan. Two warm-up matches were played here, there was no rain in both of them.

  • Duty officer of Hyderabad Meteorological Department said, ‘There is no rain alert on October 6. The temperature on this day will be between 23 to 32 degrees Celsius. Although there may be rain in some areas of Telangana, there is no possibility of rain in Hyderabad.
  • There will be a match between New Zealand and Netherlands on 9 October. The temperature on this day will be between 22 to 33 degrees Celsius and there will be no possibility of rain. There will be a match between Pakistan and Sri Lanka here the very next day, there is no possibility of rain on this day also.

4. Threat of rain on a match in Dharamshala
There will be 5 matches of the league stage in the stadium located in Dharamshala, Himachal Pradesh. Of these, 3 matches will be day matches, while 2 matches will be day-night matches.

  • According to Skymet, a private weather forecasting organization, ‘during the Bangladesh-Afghanistan match on October 7, the temperature will be between 21 to 29 degrees Celsius. There is no possibility of rain on this day.

  • There will be a match between India-New Zealand on 22nd October and Australia-New Zealand on 28th October. There is no chance of rain on both the days, the temperature will be between 9 to 25 degrees Celsius.

5. So far 2 ODIs have been canceled in Bengaluru, but there is no possibility of rain in the World Cup.
There will be 5 league stage matches at M Chinnaswamy Stadium. The first match will be played here between Australia and Pakistan on 20 October. Bengaluru Meteorological Department gave information about the possibility of rain in the first 2 matches.

  • According to the Meteorological Department, ‘The temperature on October 20 will be between 19 to 29 degrees Celsius. It will be cloudy, but the chances of rain are very less.
  • The match between England and Sri Lanka on October 26 will be cloudy and there may be light rain.
  • According to the Accuweather website, ‘During the New Zealand-Pakistan match on November 4, the weather will be clear and there will be less chance of rain.’

6. No danger of rain in Lucknow
Lucknow’s Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Stadium has hosted an ICC event for the first time. There will be 5 league stage matches here. India will face England on this ground on 29th October.

8. The first match may be washed out in Kolkata
There will be 5 league stage matches in Kolkata. All the matches will be played after October 27, there will also be a second semi-final of the tournament on November 16.

9. Currently raining in Mumbai, but the weather will remain clear during the match.

  • According to the Accuweather website, the temperature on November 2 will be between 25 to 36 degrees Celsius. It will be cloudy, despite the possibility of cyclone in the sea of ​​Mumbai, the chances of rain are very less. During this period, winds can blow at a speed of 7 km per hour in the city.

10. There is no chance of rain in Delhi also
5 league stage matches will also be played at Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi. India will face Afghanistan here on October 11.

  • According to the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD), ‘The temperature on November 11 will be between 22 to 35 degrees Celsius. The winds will blow at a speed of 5 to 10 km per hour.
  • Weather forecasting scientist Dr. Rajendra Kumar Jenani said, ‘Humidity will be 40 to 70 percent on the day of India’s match, but there is no sign of rain.’
  • The first match will be held in Delhi on 7 October and the last match on 6 November. During this period the weather will be clear, there will be fog in the city, but there is no possibility of rain.
