The 33-year-old singer, who is currently on a world tour in Argentina which will arrive in Britain in June next year, is creating a global spending spree.

American cities that have already hosted her concerts have said it has helped them recover from the economic toll of the pandemic by bringing back tourists and their wallets.

The Eras Tour, which began in March and ended in the United States in August, is the biggest ever in concert history.

It has grossed an estimated $2.2 billion in North American ticket sales alone and resulted in hundreds of millions of download streams, reaching a spike of nearly 80% among those listening to its music catalog in the weeks after the tour began.

It filled football stadiums that hold more than 70,000 people, and with the singer staying in each town or city for several days, it gave local businesses time to cash in on Swift’s money.

The tour is now a must-see for concertgoers itching for an immersive post-pandemic live music experience.

“We’re in an experience economy where people want to go out and participate in social events,” said Alice Enders, music industry analyst at Enders Analysis and former senior economist at the World Trade Organization.

“It’s no wonder people are flocking to this Eras Tour experience in an increasingly digital environment we live in.” And the Swift economy bandwagon has now hit South America.

She is playing to packed crowds at the River Plate Monumental Stadium in Buenos Aires. At her concert there on Thursday night she apparently admitted she was “falling in love” as she sang to thousands of fans.

The hit player is currently dating Kansas City Chiefs player Travis Kelce, 34, and the love between the two is getting stronger by the day. As the singer embarks on the international leg of his sold-out tour, it has been claimed that the NFL star will be flying out to Argentina to see his girlfriend.

Singing the track on Thursday night, Taylor sang: “Uh-oh, I’m falling in love / Oh no, I’m falling in love again / Oh, I’m falling in love / I thought the plane was going down / How did you turn it right?”

Fans were quick to point out that Taylor appeared to be smiling while singing the chorus, with one sharing screenshots from a live stream of the music, writing: “I’m not cry in the way she smiles. ‘Oh, I’m falling in love.’, commenting on her romance with Travis.

“I hope they last forever,” one fan wrote in the comments on X, formerly known as Twitter, while another said: “SHE’S AWESOME AND IN LOVE IF YOU SEE THIS JUST GROW.” A third then said: “Why am I laughing and kicking my feet n it is not even my relation.”

“Heart of Eyes is so beat,” penned the fourth. While a fifth said: “Travis Kelce’s look,” while another added: “She’s in love omgggg.”

Taylor Swift fans have already booked hotels near some of the venues for the UK leg of the Eras tour next summer.

Budget hotel chain Travelodge said all its hotels in Edinburgh, Liverpool and Cardiff were sold out in the days surrounding the concerts in June 2024. Some of its hotels near Wembley Stadium – where Swift will perform night in June and August – sold out on those dates too.

“We’ve seen very strong demand from all over the UK for our hotels close to the venues where Taylor Swift will be playing next year,” Travelodge said, reporting that the year’s Beyoncé and Harry Styles concerts helped here’s to “achieving a record. – break [financial] results” in the six months to the end of June.

“Places like Edinburgh, Liverpool and Cardiff are sold out. Our London hotels near Wembley are literally sold out. As Eras tour tickets are like gold dust, Taylor Swift fans are sure to be willing to travel miles across the UK to attend what is expected to be the biggest concert ever.”

And world leaders are determined to try to be part of the action.

The President of Chile, Gabriel Boric, recently took to YouTube to petition the famous artist.

In a video shared with the public, he expressed his desire to include Swift in Chile in his Latin American tour. President Boric’s words resonated with the passionate Swifties of Chile, and he is hopeful that the singer will respond positively to his invitation.

He said, “One day, she will listen to the Swifties of Chile, and I have no doubt that she will come to Chile. Hopefully sometime within the next three years.”

While Swift has scheduled shows in Brazil and Argentina, many neighboring countries in South America were left out.

The mayor of Budapest, Gergely Karácsony, also joined the chorus of world leaders calling for Swift to be present in their respective nations. He wrote a letter to the singer urging her to consider adding Hungary to her tour programme. To emphasize his plea, Karacsony shared a picture of himself with his heartfelt message on Instagram.

Despite his efforts, Swift has yet to respond, and no Hungarian dates have been added to the tour so far.
