Fortnite developer Epic Games is about to release the first major update to its popular OG season. After drawing a large number of players during its first two weeks online, Epic Games will put the time machine back up and move things forward to Season 7 and 8. The Fortnite Season 7 and 8 release date is November 16. It will be available when the downtime ends at around 11am UK GMT.
Epic Games announced the release date of S7 and 8 at the start of the OG season, along with a preview of what fans can expect.
“If you thought Chiller Traps were cold, Seasons 7 and 8 featured snow biomes and Frosty Flights,” reads Epic’s blog post.
“The Island saw pirate camps after the pol-arrrr temperatures, and the map had a range of swashbuckling gear to use.”
The exact release date and launch times were confirmed in a social media post: “What do you call a frozen pirate store? …Pol-arrr loot!
“The timeline for v27.10 starts at 4:00 ET and matching will be disabled shortly before.”
As part of the update, Epic will bring back Frosty Flights and a snow biome. That’s in addition to the Pirate Camps, “swashbuckling gear” and various weapons and items.
Unarmored weapons include the Flint-Knock Pistol, the Minigun, and the powerful Quad Launcher.
Players will also be able to use the Poison Dart Trap, although not in Zero Build. The Itemized Glider Redeploy will also make a return, not to mention Buried Treasure, which should play up some challenges.
Perhaps most exciting of all is the return of the X-4 Stormwing and the Pirate Cannon, which allow you to launch your teammates.
Elsewhere, Epic Games will make a variety of bug fixes and gameplay tweaks, while also adding new items to the in-game store.
