China Russia Friendship: After the attack on Ukraine, most of the countries of the world distanced themselves from Russia, but some countries maintained relations with it. At the same time, there are some countries which also supported Russia in the war. One of these is China. Because of America, there have been friendly relations between China and Russia. This month Russian President Vladimir Putin and Chinese President Xi Jinping will meet each other. Earlier in March this year, Chinese President Xi Jinping had visited Russia. The friendship that was seen between the two during this tour increased America’s concern.
Actually, Xi Jinping had gone on a three-day visit to Russia. Vladimir Putin bid farewell to Jinping on the last day of the tour. Xi’s parting words were clearly recorded on camera and echoed across the world. He said, “There are changes right now that we have not seen in 100 years and it is we who together are driving these changes forward.” But the two countries have not always been friends; they once had bitter enmity. Let us know how their relationship changed and with whom both are fighting.
Earlier there was enmity between Russia and China
When Russia attacked Ukraine, it was believed that Xi Jinping would support Russia instead of opposing it. Now Xi seems to be announcing a joint mission to reshape the world. But the friendship that is visible between these two countries now was not the kind of friendship that existed a few decades ago. During the Cold War, China and the Soviet Union clashed over ideology and territory. There was even an open conflict on their border in 1969.
This is how China-Russia turned from enemies to friends
After the end of the Cold War, an openness began to emerge. Alexander Gabiev, director of the Carnegie Russia Eurasia Center in Berlin, says, “After the Tiananmen massacre in 1989, a number of sanctions were imposed on China. At that time, Russia was the only source of military technology. This is the beginning of an important relationship between the two countries.” Hui.”
This is how Russia changed China’s picture
Zhou Bo, a retired senior colonel from the Chinese army, says, “Since the 1990s, China’s army has benefited greatly from Russian imports. Without Russia’s help, perhaps the Chinese army would not be as strong as it is today.” When Vladimir Putin took power in the Kremlin, he moved quickly to build relations by signing the ‘Treaty of Good-Neighborhood and Friendly Cooperation’ with his counterpart Jiang Zemin in 2001. Just a few months later, China joined the World Trade Organization. It was from here that China’s flight to become the economic giant that the whole world knows today began.
Relations became stronger from here
This is from February 2007. Leaders of different countries had gathered in Bavaria for the Munich Security Conference. Vladimir Putin was also included in this. The speech given by Putin in this conference is seen as an important turning point in terms of good relations with China. The Chinese government considered America an enemy. In this conference, the way Putin opened a front against America regarding the expansion of NATO, China has now come closer to Russia. Putin then launched a scathing attack against the unipolar world dominated by the United States. Putin had criticized almost every aspect of American power.
