Brave New World’ Coming Out? Release Date Change, Explained

By the time Captain America: Brave New World premieres in theaters, we’ll have a strong opinion on whether the MCU is on the right track to rebuilding its crumbling reputation (see: almost every phase of Phases Four and Five so far) or whether the ship has gone too far for Anthony Mackie’s film debut as Sentinel of Liberty to set things right.

Brave New Worldso called New World Orderis a sequel to Chris Evans’ Cap Steve Rogers trilogy and a follow-up to The Falcon and the Winter Soldier The disney plus series. Like every other upcoming project as we dive deeper into the Multiverse Saga, the finer details of what we can expect from Sam Wilson’s solo big screen outing have been kept hidden under Kevin Feige’s baseball cap, but the what we do know — like Harrison Ford taking over for Thaddeus “Thunderbolt” Ross from the late William Russell, now President of the United States — is more than enough to get us excited.

Unfortunately, after the actors’ strike ended, Brave New World received a shocking update on November 9 when it was announced that the film’s release had been pushed back almost a full year. So cheers, Cap fans, as you wait to see the second Star-Spangled Man With a Plan return to our screens.

Captain America: Brave New World will burst into theaters on February 14, 2025. Yes, it’s now a Valentine’s movie. This is its third different release date, after its initial placement of May 3, 2024 and then a brief stint as a summer blockbuster scheduled for July 26, 2024.

We first got rumors that it changed its release date again when Ryan Reynolds confirmed Deadpool 3 coming in “summer 2024,” suggesting that the three-quarters had claimed their slot on the slate with cap 4 maybe coming a little earlier in May, which was when DP3 was supposed to come, instead. Unfortunately, that is not the case as it turned out Brave New World it could be in worse shape than we thought.

The film from director Julius Onah was believed to be in strong shape as he managed to avoid any strike-related delays while covering principal photography before the strikes took effect. However, it is being reported that the reason for the long delay is the need for some substantial recovery after a negative test screening. It’s not completely confirmed yet, but this is getting sad when it comes to Marvel Studios post-End game.

Still, let’s not be too honest because there is plenty to show that it is BNW it’s worth the long wait. It certainly has a lot of interesting loose ends to play with, like the leader of Tiamut the Communicator from Eternal (which is rumored to contain adamantium), push the US government to obtain vibranium, and, yes, even the Red Hulk. In fact, here are 8 things Marvel can do with the movie to really revitalize the MCU.

There is no doubt Brave New World it will be a turning point for the MCU (hopefully), and my only answer to that is: it’s about dang time.
