Strictly Come Dancing’s Kai Widdrington claims his choreography “always goes through” to Angela Rippon’s feet.
After the judge decided unanimously to save the two from the dance last Saturday, the two were hard at work practicing the Paso Doble to ‘Hung Up’ by Madonna.
On Thursday (November 9), the pair took to social media to provide a hilarious update on how training for the eighth live show of Strictly was going.
Angela, 79, posted the same video on Instagram and X (formerly Twitter), which showed her and Kai taking time out from fine-tuning their steps.
Opening the video, which was shared with the Rip Off Britain star’s 28,900 followers and the 28-year-old’s 229,000, Kai said: “What people don’t understand sometimes when I’m teaching Angela, it’s not always sometimes. .. the message doesn’t always get through to the feet sometimes.
“So I have to go through the hotline,” he said, before lifting the star’s flexible leg up to his ear.
“So I have to go ‘Hello, Angel. Hello? Is she in? No, she’s not in. There’s no one at home’. You want to talk to her? No?”
Laughing with her left leg still hanging in the air, the broadcaster said: “Do I want to talk to my feet? Yes, tell them they have to listen to you and do all the steps. Tell them.”
Kai then obliged before pretending to ‘hang up’ the call using the 79-year-old’s legs.
The post was shared alongside the caption: “The number you dialed was not recognised. Hang up and dance again…” and fans have since been seen praising the pair for their partnership.
One Instagram user wrote: “I love it, Angela’s face looks so precious she’s used to your humor now. I love Kai & Angela (sic) to Blackpool!”
“This is way too funny. I love seeing this side of @kaiwidd. He seems to be showing a lot more of his true personality this year,” replied a second.
Another said: “This is too funny hahah true lovers.”
The video comes days after the journalist admitted she was “crossed” with herself after a live show last weekend.
Appearing alongside Kai on Strictly: It Takes Two, Angela told host Fleur East that the dance was “very upsetting”.
“I was frustrated with myself I think, because, obviously, I hadn’t done everything that Kai was drumming into during the week. But at the same time the upside to that is that we have to dance it again and usually, of course, you don’t. It was lovely to be able to do it again.”
Asked if she was nervous going up against Adam Thomas and professional partner Luba Mushtuk, the star replied: “I think the situation we’re in at the moment is getting so small, there were nine of us there only eight. we now
“Which means if there’s only three in the final, then it gets tougher every week and somebody’s got to get rid of him.”
She added that the Waterloo Road actor was “such a lovely man” and that the whole cast had become “great friends”.
“When you’re the other person in the dance, you know you’re going to battle it out with someone who’s a husband. It’s tough, it’s tough,” she said.
Tune in to Strictly Come Dancing this Saturday on BBC One at 6.05pm.
