Mumbai: Indian cricket team’s star batsman Virat Kohli has said that he and his teammates are committed to give their best in the upcoming ODI World Cup and win the competition. We are ready to fulfill the dream of Indian fans by winning the World Cup again at home.
The Indian cricket team has won the World Cup twice so far. Under Kapil Dev in 1983 and under Mahendra Singh Dhoni in 2011. In the 1983 World Cup, India defeated the favorites West Indies in the final played at Lord’s ground in London. In 2011, India defeated Sri Lanka in the final played at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. Under the leadership of current captain Rohit Sharma, India beat Sri Lanka by 10-wickets in the final of the Asia Cup in Colombo yesterday. Now Kohli is eager for India to become World Cup champions again after a 12-year wait. The Indian team failed to win the World Cup in Australia-New Zealand in 2015 and in England in 2019.
All-rounder Ravindra Jadeja has set the tone with Kohli’s thoughts on winning the World Cup this time. That said, the whole country is expecting us and we are determined to do our best and make our fans proud.
India is the host of the World Cup this time. The first match of the competition will be played between the last time winners England and the runners-up New Zealand at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on October 5. India’s first match is against Australia in Chennai on October 8.
