Chinese company market share: There was a time when Chinese companies dominated India. Be it smartphones, smart TVs or small watches, Chinese companies were on top in all segments. But now the picture is changing after the government has promoted Made in India and local manufacturing. The market share of Chinese companies is decreasing in every segment. Other companies are moving into smartphones, TVs, smartwatches, etc. and China’s share is declining. According to a report by ET, the market share of Chinese companies in the smart TV segment is declining and brands like LG and Samsung are coming out on top.
A recent report from market researcher Counterpoint Technology showed that Chinese brands’ share of TV shipments fell to 33.6% in the April-June quarter, from 35.7% in the same period a year earlier. Industry experts say that the share of Chinese companies will further decrease in the coming time and may come down to 28 to 30%. The report also quoted industry experts as saying that Oneplus and Realme may exit the smart TV market in the near future and shut down their business in India or reduce production altogether.
Why people don’t like Chinese TV?
The decline in shipments from Chinese companies is attributed to the growing preference of users for mid-segment and premium models from Samsung, LG and Sony. Samsung and LG have also reduced the prices of their entry models in India, due to which people are opting for them. Other brands like Sansui and Acer are also doing well in the TV segment and are upgrading the TVs as per the needs of the people.
The smartphone market share has also declined
Talking about the smartphone market, the situation of Chinese companies is bad here. Since last 4 quarters, Chinese companies like Xiaomi, Vivo, Oppo, OnePlus etc. have been losing their share. Earlier Xiaomi dominated the entry level smartphones (between 7 to 8 thousand) but now the company is lagging far behind in the race. Compared to smart TVs, Chinese companies are still doing well in the smartphone segment, but demand continues to decline and exports are also declining.
