Stock Market Closing-04-October-2023: The market saw a second consecutive day of sell-off due to weak global cues. All sectors except FMCG were down. Today, on Wednesday, the market has again closed with a red mark. The market closed after Nifty Bank recovered from lows on expiry. Sensex and Nifty closed lower for the second day in a row. Midcap and smallcap stocks witnessed selling. While metal, realty and energy shares saw a decline. However, IT stocks saw mild buying. Axis Bank, SBI, IndusInd Bank, NTPC and Ultratech Cement were the biggest decliners on the Nifty. On the other hand, Adani Enterprises, Nestle India, HUL, Eicher Motors and HDFC Bank were the top gainers in Nifty. At the close of trade, the Sensex closed down 286.06 points or 0.44 per cent at 65,226.04. While the Nifty closed down 92.65 points or 0.47 percent at 19436.

Sector status

Bank Nifty closed down 435 points at 43,964 points in today’s trading due to decline in banking stocks. Apart from this, shares of auto, pharma, metals, energy, infra, healthcare and consumer durables sectors also closed lower. Only IT and FMCG stocks closed higher. Mid cap and small cap stocks also witnessed profit booking. The mid-cap index fell 1.38 percent to close at 40047, while the small cap lost 160 points to close at 12,656 points.
