An accident between two cars

Frightened onlookers quickly jumped into the alleged physical attack after the dramatic collision between two cars on Sydney Rd in Faulkner at around 1.40pm on Wednesday. The shocking incident was caught on camera by a witness sitting in nearby traffic and shows a group of men kicking windscreens and smashing windows. First approaches the car.

In front of the CCTV footage

CCTV footage shows a man breaking a window to get inside the car before the two passengers escape inside the car. Police allege two cars were involved in a collision before one vehicle attempted to flee the scene and collided with a third vehicle.

Charged with criminal damage

The drivers of the first two vehicles were allegedly involved in a physical altercation, with a 17-year-old boy accused of damaging the car. The 17-year-old boy, who lives in NSW, was charged with affray, assault and criminal damage and bailed to appear in a children’s court at a later date.

Police conducted further investigation

Vo, who arrived in Australia from Vietnam six days before the incident, allegedly mistook the accelerator for the brake while driving in a lane behind four townhouses. Police told the Melbourne Magistrates Court on Thursday the accused was unlicensed and generally unfamiliar with driving a car when he went out on his own for a drive around the block in a Toyota Prado. CCTV footage allegedly shows Waugh returning to the lane where the vehicle suddenly picks up speed, hitting three parked cars and two children.
