Canada’s first Sikh senator Sarabjit Marwah resigns in a big blow to Trudeau government amid controversy

Who is Sarabjit Marwah?

Sarabjit Marwah was born in Kolkata, West Bengal. He is an alumnus of St. Stephen’s College, Delhi and Delhi School of Economics and holds an MBA from the University of California. Marwah joined Scotia Bank as a financial analyst in the late 70s and later became the bank’s COO. He has served on the boards of several Canadian organizations such as the Toronto Star daily, the Toronto International Film Festival.

The reason for the resignation was not revealed

According to information, he assumed this post on 10 November 2016. However, the reason why he resigned is still unclear. He did not give any information about it but the resignation has become a topic of discussion amid the tension between India and Canada.
