No opening ceremony will be held during the ICC ODI Cricket World Cup as per the decision of the host country Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). This will be the first season in many seasons that the ODI World Cup will not have an opening ceremony before the first match. Let us tell you that the first match of the World Cup will be played between England and New Zealand at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
As the World Cup is about to begin tomorrow, according to a report published on the website of Rev Sports, there will be no opening ceremony for the ICC ODI World Cup. However, earlier the BCCI had planned the opening ceremony on October 4, the day before the first match to be played at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
The BCCI had previously invited Bollywood stars Ranveer Singh, Arijit Singh, Tamannaah Bhatia and singers Asha Bhonsle and Shreya Ghoshal to perform for the grand celebration at the opening ceremony. Fireworks and laser displays were also organized for the grand opening of the World Cup.

The ceremony was expected to start at 7 pm, in which the captains of each team were also expected to be present. Although the Captain’s Day event has been held as per schedule, BCCI has not made any formal announcement regarding the cancellation of the opening ceremony. Captains of all 10 teams, including Indian team captain Rohit Sharma, will gather at the Narendra Modi Stadium for the Captain’s Day event of the World Cup. Three days after that, Team India will start their World Cup journey against Australia, who have entered the field to win their sixth World Cup at Chennai.
On the other hand, the most awaited match between India and Pakistan will be played on October 14 in Ahmedabad. BCCI is thinking of holding a function before this match between India and Pakistan.
It is worth mentioning that in the Asia Cup 2023 held last month, the Indian team defeated the host Sri Lanka with a brilliant performance. Then the Indian team captured the series of 3 ODI matches against Australia held in India by 2-1. Which shows India’s contention to win the World Cup 2023. On the other hand, after the poor performance in the Asia Cup 2023, there was a threat in the Pakistan team. Also, the gap between Pakistan and the World Cup trophy has increased due to the injury of Pakistani pacer Naseem Shah. Now it remains to be seen how the Pakistan cricket team overcomes these obstacles.
