At least seven people were killed and several others wounded in a shooting attack at a synagogue in Jerusalem, according to Israeli emergency officials cited by Israeli media.

The Police said that the attacker was “neutralized” although other reports say that they may be looking for another assailant.

The attack happened as the Jews marked the weekly Sabbath.

This came as violence intensified in the Israeli-occupied West Bank. On Thursday, the Israeli military carried out its deadliest raid in years, leaving at least nine people dead including a 61-year-old woman. Israel said it was raiding a militant’s home in the crowded Jenin refugee camp.

After that, militants in the Gaza Strip fired rockets into Israel and Israeli warplanes bombed Hamas sites in Gaza a day after the deadliest Israeli raid in the West Bank in years . There were no reported injuries from rocket fire or airstrikes.

This is a developing story. Please check back for updates.
