Anand: The first board meeting of the newly appointed President-Vice President of Anand Municipality on Saturday ended within a matter of minutes in the usual manner amid uproar from the opposition. The ruling party put the seal of approval on all the 73 agenda items by force of majority.
A board meeting of the municipality was held under the chairmanship of the newly elected president Jignoshbhai Patel for the remaining two and a half year term of Anand Municipality. Matters turned heated as opposition councilors protested and tore copies of the agenda before proceeding with the meeting, which began with the national anthem. The opposition councilors staged a walkout with slogans of ‘stop corruption’ and created an uproar.
On the other hand, the meeting was adjourned in a matter of minutes with all the councilors of the ruling party giving their approval to 73 agenda items. In today’s general meeting, works like allotment of municipal-owned sites in various places of the city for sale of natural farm produce, repair of gas fireplace for cremation in municipality-run Kailash Bhoomi, naming the circle on Dandi Marg as Atal Circle were included.
