31.50 crore fraud with RLDA: Five arrested

Among those arrested are former manager of RLDA and former branch manager of Bank of Baroda

The CBI has arrested five people, including officials of the Rail Land Development Authority (RLDA) and Bank of Baroda, in connection with the alleged embezzlement of Rs 31.50 crore, officials said in a statement.

The CBI had registered the case based on a complaint by the RLDA alleging that an unknown person had caused a loss of Rs 31.50 crore.

The accused arrested by the investigating agency are former RLDA manager Vivek Kumar, Former Bank of Baroda Branch Manager Jaswant Rai,
Three other people Gopal Thakur,
Hitesh Karelia and Nilesh Bhatt were produced before a special court. The court has sent all of them to judicial custody.

A CBI spokesperson said that it was alleged that the RLDA had initially invested around Rs 35 crore in the form of fixed deposit (FD) in the form of fixed deposit (FD) in the Bank of Baroda branch located in Vishwas Nagar, Shahdara, Delhi for a period of one year. Then the matured amount had to be invested again for three months.

However, the bank invested only Rs 3.5 crore per day while the remaining Rs 31.50 crore was deposited by bank officials., RLD sent them to different fake companies with the connivance of officials and others.
