The best designs of the year showed war and death

One of the best design works of the Äripää group in 2022 came from the Russian-language sister paper Delovõje Vedomosti.

Äripäev chose the best designs of this year, where the common denominator for several winning entries was the war.

The best works were explained in three categories: the front page of the newspaper, the inside pages of the newspaper and the inside pages of the magazine. Zürii selected a total of nine outstanding works.

The front page of the newspaper

Winner: “Война Касается вешь”, March 9, Delovojje Vedomosti.

Regarding the winning work, Zürii noted that the design forms a whole on the entire page. “The author has boldly surpassed the mockup, the photo and the text match exactly. Tasteful design, where it was a good decision to use an all black background,” described the jury.

The jury wrote about the winning work which is a design where image and text work together and enough air is left. “There is nothing overbid in the work, everything is exactly balanced,” added the jury.

Nominee: “6 people out of every 10 are dying of hunger in the world. There will be more because of the war in Ukraine”, 8. juuni, Delovõje Vedomosti

Winner: “Carnage in the Gulf of Finland”, January, A wonderful story.

The jury praised the designer of the winning entry for his fantastic use of blood and the inventive use of sea mines, which left enough air and tied the article to the details as a whole.
